Mental Health From 1 November 2006 new MBS items have been introduced for services provided to patients with a mental disorder. New GP items and a major simplification of referral arrangements make it much cheaper and easier for patients to be treated by GPs and psychologists. Increased rebates will allow us to bulk bill many more consultations.

Free 45 Year Old Health Check This provides a rebate for general practitioners to undertake a health check for a patient between 45 and 49 years of age (inclusive) who is at risk of developing a chronic disease. The aim of the health check is to assist with detection and prevention of chronic disease and enable early intervention strategies to be put in place where appropriate.
